The
Fast Effects of Fast Food!
Ann Pietrangelo in the article, The Effects of Fast Food on The Body (November 2, 2015), explains 13 effects that fast food
has on your body. Pietrangelo supports her explanation by having it Medically Reviewed by George Krucik, MD, MBA. The author’s
purpose is to inform many people in order to warn them about the health risks
of always eating it. The author writes in an educational tone for fast food regulars.
Did you know that there are a lot of health risks/effects
that can happen to your body by always eating fast food? A big problem in
todays world is that our lives are very busy that we go the easy way out just
to get food in our body, and we worry too much about getting things done that
we forget to cook ourselves a healthy meal. So I am here to explain the harsh
effects it has on your body. Eating fast food a lot can drop your blood sugar
tremendously. “Many fast foods
and drinks are loaded with carbohydrates and, consequently, a lot of calories.
Your digestive system breaks carbs down into sugar (glucose), which it then
releases into your bloodstream. Your pancreas responds by releasing insulin,
which is needed to transport sugar to cells throughout your body. As the sugar
is absorbed, your blood sugar levels drop” (Pietrangelo). It can also cause
skin problems, like acne, “Chocolate and greasy foods are often blamed for
acne, but they’re not the real culprits. It’s carbs that are to blame. According
to the Mayo Clinic, because foods that are high in carbohydrates increase
blood sugar levels, they may also trigger acne” (Pietrangelo). Many others are
dental distress, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and another big one
which is weight problems. Now what we can do to stop these health risks is to
actually find time to make yourself a good meal. Or add it to your errand list.
Also you can get a whiteboard and hang it from your pantry door, and write what
you are going to make for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the board to remind
yourself/plan for the week, or just simply put it in your phone to alert you.
To find out more about the problems with always eating Mcdonald’s or fast food
in general is the movie ‘Super Size Me’, which shows what happens with his
health/weight by doing a challenge of eating Mcdonald’s for 30 days straight.
